
From the East (Boston):
Mass Pike (I 90 W) to exit 4 - I 91 N,
proceed to exit 19 Northampton/Amherst, Rt. 9. Stay in the
middle lane on the ramp. Go straight across Rt. 9 for 3.4 mi.
(towards truck Rt. 9) The street you are on is Damon Rd. and later
becomes Bridge Rd. You will go past a cemetery then past the Kennedy
School on your right. Bridge Rd. dead ends into Rt. 9 W. Take 9 W
for 5.1 mi. to Rt. 143 W. You will go past Look Park on your left
and later Beaverbrook golf course will be on your right.
At Rt. 143
W you will turn left. There will be a sign after the turn that
indicates you are on the General Lafayette Trail. You will take 143
W for 4.2 mi. There will be a sign for Chesterfield, then there will
be a sign indicating a dead end Rd. into Rt. 143 from the left. That
is Curtis Rd. where you will turn left. Curtis Rd. is partially
obscured by a large boulder, so you should look for a blue and white
Lion’s Club sign. ( If you come to the center of Chesterfield and
see a church and a town hall, you missed Curtis Rd) Curtis Rd. dead-ends into East St. after 0.5mi.
Turn left and go 0.8 mi. to the 1886 House,
on the left – 202 East
St.
From the South (Hartford):
Take I 91 N to exit 19 (Northampton) in MA. And follow the above
directions from Northampton.
From the North (Vermont):
From the North traveling South: Take I 91 S to MA exit 20.
Proceed to the first light and turn right on to Bridge Rd. and
follow the directions given above from Northampton.
From the West (New York State):
Take Mass Pike (I 90 E) to exit 4 – I 91 N,
and follow directions given above.
From Pittsfield MA
Take Rt. 9 E to 143 E through
Chesterfield. Turn right at Curtis Rd. (Next right turn after the sign
to Berkshire Hardwood.) Curtis Rd. dead ends
into East St. after 0.5 mi. Turn left and 0.8 mi. to the 1886 House
on the left – 202 East St. If you should miss 143 E continue on
Rt. 9 E to Williamsburg where you will see 143 W, turn right and
follow directions given above.
